Patricia Splinter

Chief Operating Officer & Managing Director

Pat joined VantagePoint in 2007 and serves as the Firm's Chief Operating Officer and as a Managing Director. She is responsible for executing VantagePoint’s strategy and overseeing global operations which includes managing deal flow, investment activity and mergers and acquisitions. Pat has an extensive 34-year background of success leading and growing workforces globally, managing multi-million dollar budgets, advising executives and implementing tactical initiatives at large multinational corporations and early-stage companies. For much of her career Pat was an executive at Intel Corporation, where she held a variety of senior management roles and was responsible for worldwide human resources for the Microcomputer Components and Technology Group (with more than 15,000 employees). Subsequently, she was a Senior Vice President at disc-drive manufacturer Maxtor and software provider NetManage, then one of the fastest-growing technology companies in Silicon Valley. Pat serves on the Board of Directors for the Silicon Valley Education Foundation and the California Museum, where she chairs the Governor’s California Hall of Fame.

Kathy Shang

Associate

Kathy joined VantagePoint in 2008 from China Mobile Communications Corporation and Huawei Technologies. Previously, she was an engineer in the Huwei's Research and Development Center, then worked as Key Account Manager at China Mobile. Kathy is a graduate of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BS), Tsinghua University, and the HEC School of Management (MBA).

Thomas Huot

Managing Director

Thomas joined VantagePoint in 2004 focusing on biopharmaceutical and medical device investments. He currently has a primary emphasis in the areas of biofuels and biomaterials. Prior to VantagePoint, he was an Analyst with CDP Capital Technology Ventures, where he developed new fields of investment in the areas of diabetes and metabolic diseases. Earlier in his career, Thomas served as Project Manager for Genopole®, a business incubator specializing in the development of biology on a large scale and the creation of biotechnology companies responsible for conducting technical and economic feasibility studies. Thomas graduated from the University of London. He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University College London and a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from University Paris XI, Orsay.

Jonathan Quick

Principal

Jon joined VantagePoint in 2008, and works closely with Managing Partner Alan Salzman. Most recently, Jon was a Senior Vice President at JJR Capital, where he evaluated merger and acquisition candidates and prospective bridge loan opportunities. While at JJR, he was also the President and CEO of SSQ Acquisitions, a company he helped to take public. Jon began his career at Bain and Company, where he worked as a consultant on international projects for Fortune 500 clients. Jon is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario (HBA).

Wei Cai

Associate

Wei joined VantagePoint in 2008 from KTB Investments, where he focused on research, due diligence, and preparation of investment proposals. Prior to beginning his MBA program, Wei worked at Sinopec Guangzhou Company in various operational and analytical roles focused on maximizing the company’s profit and reducing expenses. He has also participated in internship programs at CITIC Securities and The HINA Group. Wei is a graduate Tsinghua University (MBA) and Lanzhou University (BS).

Richard Harroch

Managing Director and Global Head of M&A

Richard joined VantagePoint in 2003 from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, bringing with him an extensive body of transactional and business expertise. He is a successful entrepreneur, founder and Chairman of two companies: LawCommerce.com (sold to LexisNexis) and Allbusiness.com (sold to Dun and Bradstreet.) He is a noted author, having written and edited a number of legal and best-selling business books on start-up companies, partnerships, and joint ventures. Richard has been involved in negotiating or structuring more than 100 Internet related partnerships, financings, distribution deals, web content and license agreements and e-commerce contracts. Richard has also been involved in more than 250 mergers and acquisitions, corporate financings and strategic alliances. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley (BA) and the University of California, Los Angeles (JD), where he was Managing Editor of the Law Review.

Annette Bianchi

Managing Director

Annette joined VantagePoint in 2004. She has 24 years of venture capital experience, with significant expertise in many areas of investing, including medical devices, biotechnology, and healthcare information technology and services. She began her career in venture capital in 1985 at Burr, Egan, Deleage & Company, later joining Weiss, Peck & Greer Venture Partners as a General Partner. In 1999, she became a Managing Director at Pacific Venture Group. Annette is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania (BSE and MSE in Biomedical Engineering) and The Wharton School (MBA).

Stephan Dolezalek

Managing Director

Stephan has spent more than 25 years in Silicon Valley working exclusively with technology-driven companies. He joined VantagePoint in 1999. He is an active participant in many CleanTech advisory groups, including the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) Leadership Council, the Center for American Progress (CAP) Clean Tech Council and the University of Texas Energy Management and Innovation Center Advisory Board. Prior to joining the Firm, Stephan was a senior partner with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison acting as Managing Partner of that Firm’s Palo Alto Office, Head of the Business and Technology Group and Chairman of the Life Sciences Group. A graduate of the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia (BCP) and the University of Virginia School of Law (JD), he serves on the board of the UVA's School of Architecture Foundation.

David Fries

Managing Director

David joined VantagePoint in 2001. He has been a senior-level venture capitalist for more than 20 years, bringing in total more than 37 years of operations, advanced technology, and investment experience to the firm, where he works with portfolio companies on a broad range of operational matters, including product and infrastructure development and production scale-up strategies. David began his career at General Electric, where he served 17 years in numerous executive roles in engineering, manufacturing, senior management, and finance. He directed GE Venture Capital’s California operations, which later became the venture capital firm Canaan Partners, and, in his last role, was President of General Electric Ceramics, a wholly owned subsidiary. David is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University (BS) and Case Western Reserve University (PhD in Physical Chemistry).

Bill joined VantagePoint in 2007, bringing with him more than 22 years of experience in venture capital. Prior to VantagePoint, he was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley & Co. and President of Morgan Stanley Venture Partners. Before Morgan Stanley, Bill was a General Partner of several venture capital partnerships affiliated with J. H. Whitney & Co. Bill is a graduate of the University of Arizona (BS and MS) and Arizona State University (PhD). He also served as an officer in the Military Intelligence Branch of the United States Army Reserve.
