Rafael SimonVenture Partner
Rafael joined VantagePoint from Zenon Environmental (acquired by GE), a leading water treatment company, where he was COO, responsible for all aspects of sales, operations, R&D, and manufacturing of membrane-based water treatment technology. Prior to Zenon, he was a consultant with McKinsey & Company, focusing on the environment and energy sectors. Earlier in his career, Rafael was a researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he invented a new technique to access contaminated groundwater for environmental remediation. He is a graduate of University of California, Berkeley (BA, MEng, PhD).

Bobby serves as a Venture Partner at Vantage Point, President of Waterkeeper Alliance, Chief Prosecuting Attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper and Senior Attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council. He is also a Clinical Professor and Supervising Attorney at Pace University School of Law’s Environmental Litigation Clinic. A recognized expert on water, Bobby was named one of Time magazine’s “Heroes for the Planet.” He is a graduate of Harvard University, and received his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School. Following graduation, he attended Pace University School of Law, where he was awarded a MA degree in Environmental Law.

Tom has more than 25 years of Silicon Valley experience as an executive, venture investor and advisor to emerging technology companies. Tom was an Executive Vice President of E*TRADE Financial, where he served in a variety of operational roles and established E*TRADE’s acquisition and investment strategies. While at E*TRADE, he founded ArrowPath Venture Partners, an early stage venture capital fund that was later spun out from E*TRADE, and served as the Managing Partner of that firm for over seven years. He was previously a Partner at two of Silicon Valley’s leading law firms and has served as an advisor on more than 200 public or private financings. He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley (Business Administration) and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (JD).

Jim co-founded VantagePoint in 1996 and is experienced in every element of venture fund management. Over the past three decades, Jim has worked closely with hundreds of public and private companies on all aspects of their operations, especially strategy and finance. He has run global technology practices at leading investment banks and has served as a senior consultant at SRI International (formerly Stanford Research Institute). He is Chairman of the Board of Advisors, Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, and is a member of the Board of Directors of The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA). Jim attended Williams College (BA) and the University of California, Berkeley (MPP, PhD).
